Who Qualifies?**

To participate, you must live in a Québec municipality covered by the RECYC-FRIGO program (click here to view the list of municipalities not covered).

This program is for Québec residents who are:

  • homeowners;
  • tenants who own their appliances, even if electricity costs are included in their rent.

Have your most recent electricity bill on hand in order to provide the customer number that was assigned to you by your Québec electrical utility.

Maximum of 2 appliances per address for:

  • resident homeowners
  • tenants who own their appliance and are responsible for the electricity bill
  • tenants who own their applicance but are not responsible for the electricity bill
  • businesses or non-profit organizations
    municipalities

Maximum of 2 appliances per address and apartment number for:

  • rental property managers

Please remember that your appliance (refrigerator or freezer) must meet the following criteria:

  • residential-type model (non-commercial)
  • functional, capable of cooling AND plugged in at the time of pickup
  • easily accessible at the time of pickup
  • more than 10 years old
  • interior volume of between 10 and 25 cu. ft


If you fill out your application online, we will pick up the appliance at the address that you indicated on the electronic form.

At the time of pick up, your appliance must be plugged in and capable of cooling. Someone responsible for the appliance must be present. A signature is required.

**All registrations are subject to customary verification of compliance to eligibility criteria.

If your appliances are less than ten years old and you want to dispose of them, we suggest you contact a community organization that can pass them on to a family in your area.
